Italy has many grand piazzas, and even villages and towns can have beautiful and vibrant ones. I began this work very excitedly painting old buildings decked out with arrays of flowers and even the town gate. However, to be honest, I became bogged down when I was painting the flower market, so I left my canvas for a while. Then I had an inspiration. Although I have never been one to paint people in my art, except a few on occasion, I decided the piazza needed some. However, what really caused my excitement was when I decided to add my immediate family members. Now I have a painting that is truly special to me. My son said it seems to show a moment in time.
