This was my first painting after a long hiatus when I was teaching and raising a family. I had begun to think of the possibility of returning to art when I retired. One summer I decided to try oils and see what would happen. Since young I have enjoyed the natural beauty and the art and antiquity of Italy. The book and movie “Under the Tuscan Sun” inspired me to paint a villa I would want to live in if I had one in Italy. I was pleased to discover I could paint better than I had in college. This painting hangs over my living room fireplace and continues to inspire me.
