Castle ruins and restored castles in Europe have impressive integrity and history. This medieval castle is located on the island for which it is named, Eilean Donan, and it has been restored and expanded. It is located in the western Highlands of Scotland. I found it as fascinating to paint as the history of the area. The castle has not only been painted numerous times, but it has also been featured in several movies.
